Thank you for choosing Winnsboro Internal Medicine for your care. We know that you have many options and we will hopefully exceed your expectations. In order for a good
relationship, it is important to know our roles.
Winnsboro Internal Medicine responsibilities include being courteous, professional and treat you with the utmost respect. We pledge to maintain a program to continually educate the providers and staff. Dr. Petty will continue to maintain his Board Certification in Internal Medicine which requires an extensive educational process. We will process your claims in a timely manner and promise to resolve any issues that may come up to the best of our ability. Since we do not control insurance companies, sometimes that ability seems to be quite limited. We promise to communicate with you as quickly as we can but please allow 2-3 business days for non-urgent matters.
As a patient, we expect that you will show up for your appointments 15 minutes before your scheduled time. Be courteous to our staff even though you may be going through a challenging time. Again, since we cannot control your insurance company, it ultimately rests on the patient to pay their bill. Please see our financial policy for more details. It would be a great idea to register on our website at www.winnsboromedicine.com and access the AthenaHealth portal. We would love to be able to communicate with you via email, text or through the portal. When we write things down, it is much easier to remember and look at again. For medication refills, please call your pharmacy or request through the portal. Please allow up to 72 hours for refill processing. We do not fill any narcotics or controlled medications outside an office visit. We do not prescribe antibiotics without you being seen. Antibiotics come with significant dangers and there are many illnesses which do not require them.
In this facility, we highly appreciate Advanced Practice Providers which are Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. We are so very excited to have Shelbi Cooper, FNP, working with us. She brings with her 8 years of experience, is incredibly caring and provides excellent evidence based medicine. Dr. Petty provides oversight and maintains ongoing interaction and education. Dr. Petty wants all of his patient’s to become familiar with each APP especially for sick visits and routine follow ups. We are committed to caring for you and work together as a team. Dr. Petty may be pulled away to care for an emergency in the hospital or have a conference to attend and we want to be able to provide for your needs. While we will do everything we can to let you know of a change in your appointment, please allow for some last minute changes. It is not our intention for any patient to see Dr. Petty exclusively.
Furthermore, Dr. Petty is committed to educating the next generation of providers. Expect to see medical, nurse practitioner and physician assistant students. Please be courteous to these students as they are vital to our future.
